Meditation
Introduction to Meditation. 6 week course. Wed 7pm – 9pm.
Meditation is widely known to be of great physical and emotional benefit helping to reduce stress, increase compassion for others and create a greater sense of well being.
The aim of this course is to give you the skills and confidence to start meditating at home and learn how you can incorporate these practices into your everyday life helping you to become calmer and more at peace with yourself and others.
In the six weeks we will be learning traditional Buddhist Meditations, first we will learn to become more centred in our bodies rather than living in our heads by doing a practice called the Body Scan. We will also discover how to use the breath to calm and focus our minds using the ancient Buddhist meditation practice Mindfulness of Breathing and a meditation called the Metta Bhavana or Loving Kindness Practice that helps us to love and accept ourselves and teaches us how to have a broader perspective on life, enabling us to become more flexible and adaptable. In addition to this we will look at various techniques to help us to alleviate stress and live more mindfully, learning to appreciate the present moment and helping us to have a richer experience of life.
Course costs £60. 50% deposit required on booking.
First course commences 27th April at Creake Abbey Studio. Please call 07854 001590 to reserve place as spaces are limited.
